NWDRA General Meeting March 18

New Westminster Downtown Residents Association

GENERAL MEETING

Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 7:00 PM

Holy Trinity Parish Hall at 514 Carnarvon Street

We are inviting all residents of our community and guests from others to attend this highly spirited meeting which features volatile issues and 3 special speakers:

1. Councillor Bill Harper will be speaking on Fibre Optics and what that means to our city.... He says we will become the Intelligent City which will spur on digital economic development. What does that mean?

2. Councillor Chuck Puchmayr will be speaking on behalf of the Mayor’s Transportation Plan ---- let’s get the facts before we vote on this issue. Ballots have been mailed to eligible voters... are you on the list?

3. Save Our Parkade...an initiative from members of our own NWDRA who will present us with an action plan that gives us a community alternative for use of the structure..... what do you think?

Dear Residents’ Association,

We would like to invite you to participate in our upcoming OUR CITY Neighbourhood Visioning Process. The purpose of this process is to have a conversation with the community about the future of the city. The ideas generated will help inform the Official Community Plan (OCP) update, which is now underway. The revised OCP will provide a renewed vision for New Westminster to the year 2041.

The Neighbourhood Visioning Process is structured around a Workshop and an Open House, which we hope you will be able to attend.

LOVE OUR CITY
Neighbourhood Visioning Workshop
Saturday, February 14, 2015
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (RSVP required)
Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia Street
OUR CITY What We Heard
Open House
Saturday, February 28, 2015
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (drop-in)
Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia Street

During the Workshop sessions participants will explore three key themes: what is the heart of each neighbourhood, how the city should grow, and what big moves would make the city great. Following the Workshop, the consultants responsible for running the event will work with staff and the Advisory Group (volunteer community members appointed by Council) to further develop and refine the ideas generated during the Workshop. All of the material produced will be presented at the Open House for further review and comment.

The Workshop is free, but registration is required. You can register through Eventbrite (www.loveourcityworkshop.eventbrite.ca) or by calling 604-527-4532. Registration is not required for the Open House.

Please feel free to share this information and the attached poster with anyone you feel will be interested in these events.

I would be happy to answer questions about the OUR CITY Neighbourhood Visioning Process or the Official Community Plan review. You can also find more information on the OUR CITY webpage: www.newwestcity.ca/ourcity
